Those who can't cook... eat out. Everyday. Since I eat out for every meal, it's hard to keep track of what restaurants I've been to, which ones I liked or hated, and my favorite dishes. This blog is a way for me to keep track of everything.

I'm a huge fan of Thomas Keller but not a big fan of Bouchon. I've been to the other two locations as well but they were all very forgettable. I thought that maybe Beverly Hills might be a bit better but I was wrong. Everything was mediocre and I will probably not go back.

Petit Plateau

Escargot Pastry Puff

Soupe a l'Oignon

Soupe du Jour - Squash maybe? It was that forgettable

I’ve been wanting to try French Laundry for a couple of years now but have been too lazy to call for reservations. Luckily one day my assistant dialed frantically for about 10 minutes and was able to secure reservations! I was ecstatic and immediately booked our flights and hotel.

It was a great experience since we also got to meet the chef, take pictures with him, and went home with a personally signed menu of our meal. Overall I’m glad that I was finally able to cross this off my list but I still have to say Per Se was better.

Of course I forgot to charge my camera fully prior to going and was only able to obtain shots of the first half of the meal. I was pretty bummed but 4 flavors of dry soda and 2 bottles of wine later, all was forgotten.

Here are some pictures and the food descriptions. Enjoy!

Our menu consisted of:
Cauliflower “Panna Cotta” with Island Creek Oyster Glaze and California Sturgeon Caviar
Salad of Hawaiian Hearts of Peach Palm - Naval Orange, Piedmont Hazelnut, Watercress and Black Truffle
Moulard Duck “Foie Gras Au Torchon” - Poached Rhubarb, Pink Peppercorn, Celery Branch and Lemon Verbena

I was fortunate enough to get a reservation at Per Se a couple of years ago and LOVED everything there! Thomas Keller is by far my favorite chef at the moment and I can’t wait to try out French Laundry next month. Per Se is my absolute favorite restaurant right now and I can’t wait to go back!
